Tobacco Baseball Cards For Sale

Tobacco Baseball cards for sale skyrocketed in the early 1990's. Coincidentally that was the same time that baseball card companies and their greed, almost single handily destroyed the business. They came close. It took them most of the 1990's to realize it. The profits were good, but not for the collector. Over produced cards equal negative value.

Now that we are in this recession, I believe it is a good time to look back to the most historic baseball set of all time. The 1909 Tobacco cards. One of the most intriguing sets of all time, and it happens to contain the most expensive baseball card of all time. The Honus Wagner card. As history would have it, the Honus Wagner card is the most expensive because of the supply and demand issue. How the card got that way is quite intriguing. Honus Wagner became infuriated with the Tobacco companies when he found out the little boys where both buying and consuming cigarettes to obtain the sports cards. Honus Wagner threatened to sue the companies and most of his cards were removed and destroyed. The operative word here is "MOST"...As a result the cards have reached incredible amounts of money with the most famous passing through the hands of the late great actor John Candy and Wayne Gretzsky, and being sold by Gretzsky for over 1 Million dollars.

If you want to invest in something solid, this is the time to invest in these cards. On eBay you can find most all of these at relatively cheap prices, except of course the Honus Wagner. But nonetheless you have the opportunity to put together a good portion of this set, with the ability to sell some time down the road at a nice profit. With many tobacco baseball cards for sale on eBay, you can pick and choose and even name your price on some of them. Besides the Honus Wagner there are plenty of good stars that can be had for cheap. Hal Chase, and others that do not come so cheap are Shoeless Joe Jackson, Christie Matthew, and many others. Get yourself a checklist and go from there. This is a sound investment, and unlike the 1990's these did not get overproduced and are harder and harder to find in decent condition now.

Burger King Baseball Cards

Well after about 2 years of searching, I finally found an un-opened box of 1979 Topps Burger King baseball cards, the NY Yankees issued baseball cards.

The Burger King baseball cards pack brings (3) NY Yankee cards per pack. As you can see from the packaging to the right, you get (3) cards for free with any french fry purchase, back in 1979.

I have opened about 25 packs of the 50 that I purchased, and I can tell you that they were worth every penny. The cards are the same 1979 Topps issued cards, I seemed to have remembered some type of Burger King Logo on them originally, but I was mistaken. They are the same regular issue NY Yankee cards that were issued that same year.

A little piece of baseball card history, there were 22 cards in all inserted into the Burger King packaging. The only problem with the cards is the packaging is tight, and with the years the cards have a tendency to bend somewhat, but I have put 50 cards or so into top loaders and I believe that over the years they should straighten out to the point where I can get a few of them graded. I will keep the fans posted, here on this blog.

Funny how the fast food restaurants thought that 14 was the cut off for kids back in 1979. Now it would probably be 8 or s o. The NY Yankee stars in the 22 card set are; Reggie Jackson, Luis Tiant, Roy White, Ron Guidry, Thurmon Munson, Lou Pinella, and the NY Yankee team card. The Burger King card pictured here is the checklist. This summer I will be bringing a box opening either video or blog, and sharing my hits. Good luck with your summer long pulls.
